I keep seeing a posting on craigslist for a job where I would have to relocate to within 40 mi of Auburn Indiana. I am currently about to attend trucking school and will be finished in a month. This posting sounds very good to be true, so whats the catch? From what I have gathered almost no local jobs are that easy to go out and get. I haven't been able to find much info about this account, but it seems I would be picking up from the Walmart DC in Auburn IN. I have two small kids and a wife so being home is important to me.
I have several questions about this position, and hopefully can find someone who can answer from experience.
1. What is the actual weekly pay on average?
2. What does it mean by occasional overnight? Does it mean I would be driving overnight somewhere or just not able to be home that evening? Also how often is that? How many nights per week are you really home?
3. How many hours per day would I be working on average?
4. Are the shifts overnight, during the daytime, or varies?
5. Is it really all no touch?
6. How does the relocation bonus work? Is it an upfront type of deal, or paid later? I need to know about this, because I live across the country.
7. Is the equipment really as new as they say or a junk wagon?
Auburn Indiana dedicated?

I learned about it on craigslist, but figured the posting from their website is more legit. It says about the same stuff though.Last edited: Jul 6, 2014

First you need 6 months experience for that job. When they say overnight travel that means you leave your house early in the morning and come back the next night. Technically you are home everyday but the bottom line is you are home just enough to sleep. I can almost guarantee you the trip is 650 miles long and you will have at least a 12 hour day. They just don't hand out $1000 for a few hundred miles. It's right at the max.
No touch freight means live load and unload. Count on 2-4 hours a day sitting against a dock.
Recruiters are slimy and will paint a nice pretty picture. What they say is true here but he uses used car salesman tactics.

This is part of the ad "NEW: We're also hiring Students/CDL Grads for this dedicated position. Relocate for the opportunity to get Home Daily & Earn Great Pay on a Dedicated Route with US Xpress. We offer paid training, and great starting pay! If you've completed a CDL program within the last 5 years, we encourage you to call or apply today!" Its just listed in a different part of the posting than the experience part.

It's the Wal-Mart dedicated account out of Gas City, IN. I think your home long enough to do a 34 hour reset, Home daily to sleep.

Actually if its the one I am thinking about in Auburn its the refrigerated DC. They deliver to the sams and wal-marts in the area. When I did it back in the day for werner you just bumped the dock then stood on the dock while the store people unloaded and you had to collect stickers off each pallet. I was pretty simple. Now 1k a week I don't know but its possible I guess.

Its a Walmart Dedicated Refrigerated DC account. You park at the Walmart DC and the loads go from the DC to walmart stores in the area. Its pretty easy...I have helped them on the account before. You will be home everyday enough to sleep and for your 34. Its a good opportunity for a new student if they are hiring students. Good money and a lot of home time compared to otr. If you live close to there or don't mind moving then there u go I would go for it

Is it overnight or daytime hours? Do you know what the actual pay/week averages?
