Random question just popped in my head.
I know after orientation we have to do X hours of training. Then the requirement is to drive teams for 8 weeks. My wife and I are are starting together and want to drive teams together....so...
1. I've been assuming during the 8 week training period my wife and I will be together. Is this true or will they make us team separately with someone else for 8 weeks.
2. Prior to the 8 weeks of training above we have to complete 150 hours with a trainer. The question is what happens if one of UA finish the 150 hours before the other person? Will we wait at home, at training center. Or will they give the person that finishes first the truck and send them out until the other person finishes. I know generally we should be finishing the 150 same time but I also realize things happened?

Good questions. they will put you together for the eight weeks for sure. If one of you finishes first they "may" send you out solo until the other is done or you may wait. I would suspect it will depend on how close to finishing the other is. I have seen them do this to a couple of married teams.

Sometimes students that start together finish weeks apart. My training took 3 weeks. My partner took closer to 5 after waiting around and just going slower. Talked to plenty of people who took 6+ weeks for training due to breakdown or lazy trainers. Being sent out on your own solo and waiting to hook up with partner is likely I'd say, that's what happened to me with my friend I joined with at the same time to team with. Don't expect your training cooridinator to be ANY HELP AT ALL IN ANY SITUATION. You need to be proactive. Make sure things are going as they should be. When you're almost done with training, make sure they know you need to meet with your wife. Don't be afraid to tell them and your dispatcher constantly. My first FM never remembered or cared about any issue I had, so if you do go solo first, tell that guy every day, "Hey, gotta meet up with my wife" when she's done or close to done with training.
Just a heads up, lol. Training is going to suck. It's a total cluster #### at USX. You're not going to know whats going on day to day, and they won't have anything planned either.TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Are their any steps I can take if I get a not so desireable trainer. I'm pretty easy going but I want to be able to make the most of our time training.
