Forget about deleting the egr, at least for now. You've got bigger problems than that could ever cure.
Does your truck have a boost gauge? If it does what does it show when cruising on the highway? This will give you the best indication of how hard the engine has to work(and how much fuel it uses) to move the truck down the road. The lower the better(less than 15lbs - 1/4 mark on gauge - is desired range.)
The best thing you can probably do is find a good Volvo shop and have them look at it.
ved12 465hp very very low mpg

Yes, I did have the restriction plate behind the exhaust brake cut out.
-
I also installed a Donaldson free flowing muffler.

Just looked on the intake manifold to see if it's got some holes premade from factory for a boost sensor like cm871 got, but it does not have it. Did you drilled a hole or what? Is the metal good to make tread in it after drilling? -
Behind the turbo is the exhaust brake there is a piston mounted with 4 12 mil bolts remove that kind of hard to get out but u can cut off the piston top plate and thats youre restriction after u do this u will have no first position on youre engine brake only the second position

Hello everybody. I found the problem, the exhaust manifold is leaking at the connection of the center part to the front part and back part. I never disassembled/assembled a exhaust manifold into/from pieces and i have no clue how the connection works. Does it has a o'ring or seal that needs to be changed only, or i need to replace the whole thing? Any ideas appreciated.
tirexpress Thanks this. -
Probably the whole thing there is a batting kit for it but its expenxive and it doesnt work very well cuz the bolts keep coming loose u can try to see if it worka if not u need whole manifold as the new pieces do not match up with the old

Do yourself a favor and go to a good Volvo mechanic, wherever he is, Volvo dealer or small truck shop. On the long run you will save money. That job seems to be easy but .... just seems to.
