I was looking at YouTube videos today on the Volvo 780 with it's impressive interior, mainly in the sleeper area, and I came across a video for the "Volvo Vision 2020 Concept Truck". I had a good laugh when the driver decides to take a nap in Auto Drive mode at about 43 seconds in...nice.

Does anyone know if Volvo plans to redesign the VNL670 and 780 trucks anytime soon? They have been around since 2004.

Very neat look but not a chance I'd want to use the auto-drive mode lol

2020 ha! Try at least another 10-15 years minimum before the technology is integrated into enough vehicles to have a remote chance of feasibility. Auto drive will never be able to predict how well humans have designed and trained the everyday idiot. I doubt it would ever be able to cope with snow ice and/or the "hammer lane, cross 4 lanes to take the off ramp lunatics" predictably.

    not a Volvo but still....

    7. This year's favorite could easily be Mr. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On his first trip home, having driven onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back and make himself a cup of coffee. Not surprisingly, the R.V. left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising him in the owner's manual that he couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons buying their recreation vehicles.

I guess anchorman 2 should have been sued too for not coming out early enough for mister grasinski to see that seen with the guys in the rv. I think the future looks awesome though with no cars on the road. I've always had the dream of having the road to myself!

The sleeper on that "amazing" truck concept looks like a dog house. When trucks will all look like that one I will call it quits and find myself another job.
And that auto-drive would be really interesting to see it at work during the winter time in Wyoming or North Dakota.
