Well, either I have a problem or Volvo Jesus blessed my truck last night. I just ran over 300 miles and the fuel gauge on my 08 880 haven't moved a bit. I can used the old odometer/calculator method to make my deadhead home run, but what do you guys think will be the easiest/most likely problem to check first?
Of course, if I'm really getting infinite fuel mileage, I'm not going to complain.
Too good to be true!

Your float is BROKE. Probably. But God bless you! My Volvo is in the shop AGAIN because the steering wheel is BOUNCING.....
BobcatVolvo Thanks this. -
I'd trade a broken float and a bouncing steering wheel any day for the blown head that put a hole in my 780's engine block the size of a basketball.

Use a stick to gauge the level in tank.

Amen to that. I'm not going to complain too much, I have been very lucky on this truck (so far.). It's only spent a few unplanned hours, and less than $1500 in the shop in the 3 years I've had it.Stile Thanks this. -
Saint Volvo apparently fixed it, either that or I was burning 5 gallons a mile the last 20 miles into home. I checked it with a stick when I pulled into home, so apparently something broke loose. Probably a leaf or stick from the pump at the T/A. I will keep an eye on it for awhile.

I just now had the same problem. I too was getting excited but I took my fuel cap off to check and the chain on the fuel cap was tangled up in the float. Could be your problem

the valve that equalizes the tanks is going bad on the return line allowing more fuel to return to just one tank.
