air dyer keeps on purging

    Hi guys,

    i got a volvo 2004 fh12 500hp, just install new brand wabco aircompressor and air dyer because it wasnt building air and now im having problem with my air dyer keeps purging as it wont shut of my aircompressor and keeps building air ?? :biggrin_25518:

    Airlines to the governor could be blocked or hooked up wrong, air governor could be bad. That's where I'd start. Could be luck of the draw and you just got a faulty compressor, but check the simple stuff first.

    it doesnt have 1, i know on the volvo fh12 version 1 has it on the side near the battery tray, mine is electronic and its bolted on the side the air dyer act like 1 unit but can be unbolted..

    I hadn't heard of an electronic air gov. Might have to take it to a dealer or whoever did the work before. Maybe they forgot a piece?:biggrin_25517:

    thats the same air dyer i have on my truck which doesnt have an separated air governor, can i add 1 in? or is it my ecu needs programing ??

    and this is the unit thats bolts on the side of the air dyer, i dont know whats its call but i know its some kinda electronic valves

    i have check the air line from the air dyer to compressor which is still good, how i knew cos i blew work shop air into it.. run outta ideas, some saying it could be my wet tank, clutch fan.........

    ECU has nothing to do with air governor. Air governor is mechanical. Also the purge valve may be stuck or have crud in it. Did you change the Air dryer filter? Don't forget to drain your air tanks at least once a day . Install a pull cable if there is not one on it now. My air governor cost about $18 bucks. Not sure which on your engine needs.

    The gov controls the air pressure it might be in the dryer it self that is causing it to purge you need to take it to the shop or risk losing the compressor.

    When you say it keeps purging do you mean air is constantly coming out of the purge valve? also if you replace both the air dryer and the air compressor you should have replaced the air governor. Air governor only costs about $46
