Does it do it when you have the cruise set only? Or same thing when you are driving with cruise switched off?
-
Sounds like the ECM is unstable. Could be wiring or unstable power supply. Can you read any error codes? Good luck with that!
-
A Dodge pick-up I had would do the exact same thing, with or without the Cruise control on. If I remember correctly ( it was a while ago) it was something to do with the electronic brain and a sensor.
-
Put a new ECM in it. We were having issues where my old N14 would derate and have no pedal or nothing, bypassed some part of the ECM and unhooked the Jakes and no problems now.
-
When I was reading this all I could picture was the scene from the blues brothers in the rv with the glued gas pedal.

Yes all kind of codes,,,no low oil pressure protection, no low coolant protection, along with many more,,
-
Probably your electronic control module? You might try to disconnect the Cruise Control and see if it still does it? Another thing you might try, disconnect your batteries and leave them disconnected a few minutes then reconnect them. Maybe the ECM will reset?
Back in the old days, Id say it sounds like your motor is running backwards but surely not with one that new? Im sure they took care of that problem a long time ago. -
I've had a n14 do this to me once. Someone had changed the ecm with a junkyard ecm. The replacement ecm had Eaton top 2 enabled on it. Hit a certain speed and it tried to rev up to ####. Seemed like it was running away.

; I had same symptoms last week on my D13,, dash gauges out ;first they tried a new cluster but the ECM and wiring was contaminated with oil. I had to rewire the engine plus a new ECM some sensors, over 6000$ plus a week in shop.
