So I'm looking at buying a used truck and have someone willing to sell me a Volvo cheap. Only problem i see is it used to haul under 80k. I would be pulling a dump trailer and need to be permitted for 102k. What would i have to do to convert out over for heavy haul? Would i have to change the suspension and rear axles or what is all involved?
convert 01 Volvo midroof to haul heavy

First thing and most important is learn to drive.....not being a richard, just say in..
I would look for a Cascadia or Coronado The overall weight is less and for the money you will get a better deal, IMHO. -
I know how to drive. Have been hauling fuel for quite awhile. And the Volvo I'm looking at has 500k. Friend of my dad's ids willing to sell it to me for 8 grand. But i would have to set it up for hauling dump trailer work. The other truck im looking at is an 01 international for 26k that's already set up and lots of recent work had been done to it. Just trying to weigh my options

Now i see why you said that. I never noticed my info thing said student. Lol -
What specs on that Volvo. engine? rears? etc etc.
-
All i was told was that it was 475 horse. Not sure about any other info. I'm working on finding it out
-
Depending if you are playing in the mud getting stuck alot or not. If not then it doesn't matter if it's 40k rears or 46k. I've hauled 102k for years with 40k rockwells just fine and I het stuck and buried in the mud all the time.
3:70-4:11 would be a good ratio to pull that weight.
And a 13 speed minimum. 18 prefered
475 is enough power -
it is toutht truck, will haul
-
He is sending me the specs Tuesday. I know right now I'm in a 10 speed Volvo that it's 485 horse before t was turned down and governed. I haul 106k and am used to it but out has 46k rears. I didn't know the difference from hauling heavy with lesser rears. So Tuesday when i get all the info i will share. I just think if it's possible adding the pump to the Volvo and upgrading everything else as i go might be better since its gonna be 18 grand cheaper to buy

Nothing wrong with the international, it may rattle and creak but there a strong truck. If it was me I'd take the truck that's already setup for it.
