Recently my truck vnl 670 2006 D12 started blowing gas smell in to the cabin right after stopped. I checked under the hood and found some lose pieces of graphite on the right side of the engine. It looks like pipe cover or such. Looks like it came off from intake manifold, i can see the loose clamps on it. Is gas smell coming into cabin related to this, and how important are these graphite covers? Some mechanic told me not to worry about, but smelling gas at every stop is not fun. It doesn't blow gas when idling. As always i will appreciate the advise.
Graphite cover fell off.

If you are smelling exhaust fumes, (I hope that is what you are talking about, since your truck likely doesn't run on gasoline,) I'd say it is a problem, no matter what a mechanic who doesn't have to drive the truck tells you. Why don't you check with an authorized Volvo dealer?
Also, if it is a different type of gas you are smelling, you might want to change your diet a bit. . . -
Haha, yes exhaust fumes not the other. And the mechanic was a from Volvo dealer, albeit per phone conversation.
