I am shopping for a Volvo 670 from 2005-2007 with a volvo d12 engine, most of them are over million miles. How much is a Volvo Reman engine from the dealer installed? Volvo gives their Reman engines 3 years and 350k miles warranty, but no price on the web page. Here in this forum, somebody mentioned $18 000 for the engine only and $25 000 - engine installed by the dealer. Can someone confirm this numbers? Thank you!

Just called Volvo dealer, these people are mess. How can one advertise a service without even knowing the price. I was put on hold for 15 min just to get the price of D12 engine, $69 000 and some change. He does not know if this is a Reman engine or new. If this is the price for reman engine, better stay with the Freightliner..........

Volvo dealer called back with new information. New D12 engine is $68900. Reman engine installed $25741 + Tax. Premium Overhaul $19580 (parts & Labor) + tax. This sounds a lot better. I don't see any difference between Premium Overhaul and Reman engine. The reman engine maybe is faster to install.......

D12 may be only remanufacted, becouse it is not legal to build engines out of current emission regulations.

Volvo discontinued D12 becouse it cant make enought heat to exaust for DEF and passive regeneration DPF.

Pablo, I know you are expert. What year they start putting DPF on d12 in North America? 2008 or earlier?

It was called D12F, as I know in 2007, but they had problems with regeneration.

So they switched to D13, becouse with hot exaust DPF regenerates in passive mode.

Early D13 had many problems with exaust valves. But now problem is solved.

What about the earlier models of D12 with EGR only? Are they good engines?

basicle D12D is developed on D12C. They made two versions of engine
Euro 3 D12D with one solenoid injectors, w/o EGR and a bit later EPA2002 D12D (new TRW ECM for twin coil solenoid injector, two EGR). This engine was used on some Renault and Mack trucks. Weak things of D12D are EGR valves.

So really the most reliable D12 engine is D12C EPA99/Euro-2.
