Hi All,
I have a 2007 Freightshaker Classic, Detroit 60, 500HP, with 1.2 million miles. It's not a bad truck but the mileage sucks on it. Like around 5.5 with winter diesel.
I'm looking at a 2011 Volvo VNL64T670 with the Volvo D13, 475 HP, 10 speed Eaton, 450k miles for about $59k. Looks like a very nice truck and would replace the FL nicely.
Any experiences with that truck? How about MPG? I'm sure it'll do better than the 5.5 my FL gets.
Thanks for the input.

Firs of all ask yourself WHY NICE TRUCK IS FOR SALE?
If this rteuck from the fleet or O/O she will give you a lot of problem right after you sign a required paperwork.
Got good used truck chance is less then win jackpot. -
Hey Tallmon couple of things. At 500k the fan clutch fails and could take out the radiator. Injector cups are a problem you should ask if they have been replaced to stainless cups or still running the copper cups. Egr cooler is another issue.
Good luck

Thanks.... Coincidentally, the repair sheet shows the fan assembly was JUST replaced. The cups were not yet replaced.

the price seems high I just bought 2010 d13 520000 for 37000 I get 5.8 avg I was hoping for more
-
5.8 seems lowing for any truck 2011 or newer. Can I ask where you found the truck?
-
I get up to 8 in the Summer and 6.7-8 winter. Hauling dry box half time 20-30K and MT the other half.

Ok, so before buying the truck I want my mechanic to take a look at it and drive it. Penske told me that a long-term customer is currently using the truck and Penske won't bring it in just for a test drive.
What the hell? He said their customers buy their trucks "sight unseen" Has anyone ever heard of this? Seriously?
