Just curious what everyone's favorite make and model chassis and body's are for RCV's.
The shop I work in is mostly rear loaders setup for residential.
My main truck is a 2014 crane carrier low entry cab with a heil powertrack body. We also have some older 2005 crane carriers with leach 2RIII bodies which I also drive on occasion.
Can't really say much about crane carrier, as I don't have much experience with anything else... but while the ride is ok, the doors are all rickety, the latches are loose, and the mirrors don't want to stay in position on the highway....and this is a 1 year old unit... /huh
Has far as the Heil Powertrack....The PTO driven gear pump they gave this truck is utter crap. Its a 25 cu. yd. body and when it was new, the hopper was reasonably fast, and it could pack on over 30,000 lbs. Now the hopper takes twice as long to run as it should, and I have to struggle to squeeze on 23,000 lbs. Its not just my truck either, all of the other guys are complaining about the same thing, and at least 2 of these trucks have already had the pumps replaced because it got so weak it couldn't even generate enough pressure to open its own tailgate at the dump. The rest of the body seems fine, but Heil's pump as got to go.
Now the Leach on the other hand.... that old girl can still press in 30,000 to this day (did it last week). Good body, whish they would buy more.

Hi there,
Hope your week is off to a good start. I'm interested in your perspectives on chassis procurement and believe a client of mine could gain valuable perspectives from you. Would you be able to chat with me for a few minutes regarding your experiences?
Thanks! -
The city I live in only uses Leach packer bodies I have never seen them buy anything else but Leach. I'm not a garbage truck expert by any means, but if I was going to buy a garbage truck I think Leach would be my choice.

Leach is a very good choice I guess.

I also like the CCC IRL that's a garbage truck.
