So I have had my CDL since 2006. I have not used it. Meaning no experience at all. Will Watkins and Shepard hire me. Thanks to all who reply.

Why don't you call them and ask?
-
Because its Saturday morning and I'm sure they are not open. I figured a titled forum would be a good place to ask.
hal380 Thanks this. -
I'll venture to say they won't hire you; they hire experienced drivers and recent CDL school graduates.

Recent Graduates[/h]Watkins-Shepard Trucking has competitive pay for student graduates that have attended an approved CDL school that has prepared you to be successful in our 14 day advanced training. As a recent graduate you will benefit from our paid orientation of $700 and comfortable accommodations. -
Many companies will hire you but you must agree to attend their formal CDL training.
If you don't want this route, then you will have to attend a private or community college CDL school.
Put you location on your profile; city/state so we know the hiring area you live in.Last edited: Jul 26, 2014

What kind of income are you looking for at hiring if someone did hire you with zero experience in the cab?
-
Im located in southern ohio. Ironton to be exact. Pay wise. As long as i can live and send some home Im good. I don't want to get rich but i want to do better than my local pizza job. Maybe 500 to 700 a week starting out
-
For that type of pay, are you prepared to work 14-16 hours each and every day until you hit 70-hours, only to keep doing it over and over again after the mandatory 34-hour reset breaks?
-
Yeah it's not about the hours of work. Its about working to pay the bills and supporting my family. I know I can go to a company and do a refresher and go over the road with a trainer for a couple months. But it looks like I could skip the 2 months of teaming with a trainer if I could get hired on at Watkins and Shepard

Check Millis Transfer. Those drivers average $50K per year. Cost $500.00 to get started. Some of their drivers said they made over $50K their first year as solo driver.
