Well...define "illegal"...lol...no problems with DOT on my log book...if I'm tired, I'm going to sleep. If I need a restart, I let em know, and no problem. If I need to relay a load because of hours, they set it up. I know I've heard horror stories about those running out of Nashville, but we run a tighter ship out of Fontana. If something isn't 'right,' a get a message to call safety, which happened one time because I forgot to send in the macro when I had a restart, so it looked like I was over on my hours. Got it straightened out pretty quick. But if I can't make a run within the parameters of the preplan/assignment, all I have to do is let them know, and they'll pull it off of me or reschedule it. With this CSA-2010 nonsense going into effect, pushing drivers hurts the company as well as the drivers, so it benefits nobody to try to push things the old way. I've been doing this since the days when a lot of outfits got away with that, and, in fact, encouraged it. I worked for one company back in the day...lol...called the alleged 'safety' guy, and told him I was out of hours. He said, well, you're at a TA, so just go inside and get another log book...lol...but I wouldn't run like that today for anyone. Not worth it. Not risking MY CDL.

Can someone give me some insight into Westerns flatbed side? I would like to know their operating area, where they hold orientation and how do they get you there, how long are drivers out for? I'd appreciated the come back.

Flat bed? I was talking with a guy that couldn't stop singing the praises of Maverick. GF's son's best friend. He didn't want to go OTR anymore but was home nearly every weekend. Lots of miles and good pay. And really good training.

Western's flatbed side...their orientation will be in Nashville. They run all 48. I run out of the Fontana terminal, pulling dry van, but see the skateboards out there all the time. As for how long you stay out, as with any company, that will depend on your DM, as well as your own performance. I haven't talked to any of the flatbad drivers who have said anything about having problems getting home.

if you ok with him sarting at 27/28cnt a mile.
he can do better somehwere else.
i stayed for two years and left in april due to a minor stroke(stressed)
    caused by them.
i was making 31cnt/mile and two years later was making 29cnt a mile.
their turn around was at 98% weekly.
    do the math.
i too was their top driver.
    not worth it.
look around and dont settle for less.

Western Express has terrible securement training. I have run into their guys and they do not have a clue how to do it. Begging me practically to show them how.
There are better companies out there!

I wanted to know if anyone that worked for Western Express had got blamed for cashing Comdata checks that was put there by a dispatcher then he removed it from Comdata, but the dispatcher says the driver cashed it. I think someone is stealing from the company an is blaming the drivers.

Hello, Me I was wondering since I have no exp. on tractor trailor driving, is it true they will still actually hire you as a trainee, since I have a CDL class A /hazard/tanker that I recieved in florida 3 years ago for a school who I've recieved a certificate of completion the school was only a 40 hour course not 160 hour or 340 hour or whatever? I drive at my current job a straight truck w/3 axles/ hazardous/logbooks/shifting etc. want to eventually make better $ after exp. over the road. One recruitrer one time told me I would need a refresher course, another time said I did not need a refresher course, and wanted to send me there right away after checking background info.

Jayhood get either a refresher course, or the full course at TN Tech. There is enough hours of instruction to qualify you to get on with a much better company. Crete has a terminal near you. They even run day cabs out of there. They run to Bush Beans.

TN Tech gets you a PTDI certification and that is what Crete requires for newbies. The lotto people will pick up $600 of the tuition. You may get the whole thing paid by the WIA. Work Force development in your county will have the details on that.

The WIA paid for me to get my license in '09. Even paid me some money for gas back and forth to school.

    TN Tech is $1400 total.

they might hire you on and send you out for 4 weeks with a trainer. western really is not that bad of a company, milage pay is not great, but they have very good benifits. they are like any other big company. they run day cabs out of nashvile, mainly running trailers back and forth.
