The owner of a trucking company is on the run from federal officers after he admitted to using his trucking company to transport stolen cargo and then resell the goods.
Operating under the name Good Time LLC, the carrier owner used his company’s trucks to transport stolen goods across state lines, kept some for himself, and even buried some of it in his own backyard for safe keeping.
According to court documents, he lived lavishly, even buying luxury vehicles like Ferraris and a Mercedes Benz with his ill-gotten gains. He used large plastic storage containers to keep money and stolen goods buried in his back yard. According to an assistant U.S. attorney, “Law enforcement is aware that commercial versions of these types of devices are for sale for the sole purpose of sealing and burying high-value items.”
But all that was before police officers using a tracking device embedding in some of the stolen electronics were led straight to one of his storage units. They found him there, questioned him, and were able to even coax a confession out of him that the goods were stolen and that he had sold stolen goods in the past. For some reason however, he was not arrested.
A few days later, when police arrived at his house with a search warrant, they discovered that he had fled with his family to Canada and from there had disappeared. Before he left, he apparently dug up some of the buried containers that had money and stolen goods in them.
In the two searches that the police conducted, they found and seized more than $1 million worth of his property including his luxury cars, large bags of marijuana, handguns, electronics, and designer clothes. According to The Detroit News, the police needed three 27-foot box trucks to haul it all away.
His wife has yet to be charged with a crime, but federal investigators are currently looking for the man and the rest of his family.
