Truckers across North America will be pulled over and inspected by the tens of thousands next week. International Roadcheck will run from May 4th through May 6th, so get your gear in order!
Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance spearheads International Roadcheck. It’s a cooperative effort between CMV enforcement officers in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Over the course of the 3-day inspection blitz, around 50,000 inspections will take place. The vast majority will be Level I inspections taking place in the United States.
In addition to the standard Level I inspections, CMV inspectors pay special attention to a specific aspect of regulatory compliance. This year inspectors will be focused on Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, and vehicle lighting.
Some truckers make it a habit to park their rigs during Roadcheck figuring that they’ll come out about even. But this year with spot rates at record highs and driver pay skyrocketing, skipping out on those driving days could mean leaving major money on the table.
So, take extra care during your pretrip, and if you spot anything that could use some work, get it taken care of. Keep your head on a swivel and the shiny side up!
