Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has announced that it is issuing a recall on 164,317 FreightLiner Cascadia trucks for an issue with the braking system that potentially increase the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice and accompanying documentation, the issue seems to be caused by chemical corrosion on the right brake modulator valve. This can cause the release timing to be slower than it should be, potentially causing the truck to pull to the right while braking.
DNTA says that they expect that only about 1% of the recalled trucks might be affected by the issue. Still, the owners of over 160,000 model year 2017-2021 Cascadias will be notified. DTNA will perform the repairs free of charge.
The recall will begin August 30th, 2020.
For more information about the recall, you can read the recall notice here or contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL-855. NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V390000

There’s been quite a few recalls for the NGC. I’ve got like a dozen stickers on my door frame.

It does it on the 2016 also.
Jacro says
I agree my 2016 always pulled to the right no matter what the shop did. Always told they could find nothing wrong.

Corrosion is a thing in any state that uses road salt. We need more stainless steel in mission critical components.

Freightliner is a bunch of liars I had two brand-new trucks to do the same thing they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the truck
Jaebro says
Freightliner breakdowns & recalls are just as bad as Volvo’s
They’ve made them so cheap parts & computer software ware out
Freightliner is not the tractor of old before Damlier took over
Jim says
So, for the next six weeks are we suppose to just hope we don’t wreck?
Daniel says
I’d rather have a recall than not. Half the trucks on the road have defects anyway, so you might as well just take them in to fix everything! 😉
Experienced Trucker says
Time to test the Frieghtliner builders for drugs with urine & hair then. The excuse for drug testing is to keep unsafe drivers off the road under guise of more crashes. Never do take into account that bad, poorly built vehicles are responsible for many wrecks.
