A multi-state enforcement blitz will take place this Friday. The blitz will run from 5:00am on Friday, May 25th, through 4:00am Saturday, May 26th.
Called the Joint I-90 Traffic Safety Operation, the blitz is planned along the I-90 corridor. Minnesota, South Dakota, and Wyoming will all be taking part. Statements from the highway patrols say that troopers from each state plan to patrol all along the I-90 corridor. In addition, they are planning increased presence along all state roads, highways, and state-line ports of entry.
“This is a great partnership between the three states,” said Col. Craig Price, superintendent of the South Dakota Highway Patrol. “We always have one major objective – to ensure that motorists stay safe.”
The blitz is supposed to promote highway safety through additional enforcement. The emphasis will be on speed, hazardous moving violations, seatbelt use, and impaired driving. But some personnel will also be using police service dogs and others will be focused on doing CMV inspections.
Stay safe out there and keep the shiny side up!

Anything to screw drivers…it’s all about the money 💰
Im all for safety. Targeting trucks is asinine, however. 83% of accidents involving trucks and cars are the fault of the car drivers. Impose a minimum $2500 fine for cell phone use on four wheelers and see how fast safety scores come up.
This isn’t about safety, its about money.
“We always have one major objective – to ensure that MOTORISTS STAY SAFE.”
replace with “we raise as much revenue as possible”.
Every comment above are pretty spot on. I’m proud to be a truck driver and I take pride in my ride as many of us do! Here’s my thing, I was pulled into the back shed in a Florida scale once for a 3 hour and 18 minute inspection. Meanwhile I’m sitting there watching some of the dirtiest, raggedy trucks roll right across the scale. Bent stacks, duct taped, bungy corded, carbon monoxide smelling tractors get the green light. Safety they say…. I don’t agree one bit, I can’t even say it’s revenue. I think it’s just abuse of authority.
Been there done that! Tennessee Knoxville flagged me for inspection and I waited on an old ragged out cab over Mack to back into spot for several minutes until DOT officer waved him on when he tried several times and couldn’t.
Payback came when the OL’s cat snuck out of sleeper and ran up his leg! Papers and clip board went everywhere! Of coarse he found something to put me out of service after that.
Exactly. I see the same thing.
Safety is the reason behind this increased police presence, please it’s generating revenue. Go buy some donuts.
They need to have a blitz on four wheelers. These drivers today are rude, trouble makers and just completely uneducated about the laws of driving.
I TOTALLY AGREE !!!
I think if you read this again it’s an enforcement blitz of all vehicles not just CMVs.The holiday weekends are always a time for the federal grants to pay overtime to have extra patrols.
I crossed almost all of Montana yesterday. Guess how many troopers I saw? One. In over 500 miles. Guess how much stupidity I witnessed….
I would say about 500 miles ))
If you read the article its for everyone not just trucks. Last time I drove across one of these interstates doing this they had four wheelers pulled over left and right.
Someone has to pay for there fancy new cars and SUV’s. No respect for drivers anymore just tickets it’s a horrible career and I advise anyone who wants to get into this don’t you will regret it.
Look, coming from a first responder side, it’s not all about the money! It is about safety! I e been driving a little over a year now. However my family had an extensive driving background a. Brother 10 years, father 20+ years, brother in law about 10 years! Safety is safety! Take it or leave it! If you don’t like it you need to step away! We are the professionals! Start acting like it! Pretty simple! And to tell people who want to come to this industry to stay away from it? Really. Don’t you think we are on er worked enough! There simply aren’t enough drivers now and you don’t want others to join us? Get real! People dog four wheelers and you know how many truckers I see with their phone in their face while blowing past me? I’m governed at 70 and if you have your phone in your face and blow by me like I’m sitting still that means you’re running 75-85mph and that’s just stupid! No need to drive that fast! You can’t control anything that happens! I’m one driver who all out respects what they are doing! They aren’t just doing it because of us! Yeah there is money involved, however if you do what you’re supposed to do as a professional driver, you shouldn’t have anything to be concerned about! Right?
It’s time you unsafe truck drivers fix those trucks and get out of my left lane if you’re slow that is what the slow lane is for not the Middle Lane please do us all a favor and learn to drive
Another way to make a buck of of drivers safety may ass look at 4 wheelers not trucks don’t see 4 wheelers pay 2500 for phone glued to head hell why stop 4 wheelers might not have a job but trucks well they know well that we will pay ticket
All these comments go from one extreme to the other. I believe we need safety inspection but the DOT takes it to extremes also.
What i have been saying for years every since CDL’S were enacted.”SAFETY IN THE NAME OF THE ALLMIGHTY DOLLAR”
Dot regulations are no longer about safety they all about revenue and nothing ells,my brother in law is Dot trooper in the state of Florida,And we speak to each other every other day ,he him self has seen how the Dot has made it a revenue priority for the agencies enforcing laws that make no sense,
We are proud to be working together on this highway pirate operation. When revenue gets low we take to the big roads and rape the trucking industry hell even us police know big trucks equal big bucks we like to call this a safety blitz to stay politically correct but it’s a modern day pirate operation were out here to issue tickets and be dick heads to everyone we stop. See you at the blitz pigs
When I look at a law enforcement officer I look at them as professionals not as pig’s because they don’t deserve to be called pigs, they have a job to-do,I just wish that they were just and not unjust, because we are not all the same,
