Washington – Today, the American Trucking Associations (ATA) joined the U.S. Department of Transportation and other transportation community members as a “First Mover” by committing to action items supporting the National Roadway Safety Strategy. “ATA shares DOT’s commitment to zero highway fatalities,” said ATA Vice President of Safety Policy Dan Horvath. “We are committing to a collaborative approach to address highway safety and work towards the common goal of zero fatalities.”
The DOT’s National Roadway Safety Strategy outlines its comprehensive approach to reducing traffic fatalities and injuries. As part of this effort, DOT launched the NRSS Call to Action, prompting stakeholders to commit to improving highway safety. ATA is one of the first organizations answering the call, saving to educate the public about safely sharing the road with large trucks, practicing safety in construction zones and partnering with law enforcement to address highway safety issues.
