A trucker has been missing since late last month and drivers are being asked to keep an eye out for him and his truck.
The Missing Truck Driver Alert Network posted an alert that David C. Day, a 63-year-old driver for Al-Amin Brothers Transportation has gone missing. He was supposed to be dropping off a load in Sterling, Illinois on 11/28/19, but never arrived. He had fueled up in Irving, NY on 11/27/19.
According to the post, he most likely used US 20 to avoid tolls. Day’s phone was pinged near Toledo, Ohio on November 30th. His ELD has been disconnected.
Day is 63 years old, 5’9” and around 178 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown salt and pepper hair. He drives a Dark Red 2011 Volvo VNL64T, VIN# 299508, with an Illinois license plate P1006352. On the back of his white trailer, there’s a blue logo for Al-Amin Brothers Transportation.
Anyone seeing the driver, his truck, or with any information is asked to contact Missing Truck Driver Alert Network, Tom Oswald at toswald@al-aminbros.com, and 911.
A missing person report has been filed with Toledo, Ohio PD. Missing persons report (054167-19).

So sorry to hear about this. He is in our prayers and we will be watching for him.

Was there a GPS tracker on the tractor or the trailer? Irving, NY to Sterling, IL is about 635 miles, taking 20 to Toledo, OH. I pray for this driver’s safety. Hijacking is a strong possibility.
Samiullah Henderson says
Wow. I hope he is okay and they find him alive and well. That’s scary.

That picture isn’t any help.
Rhonda Smith says
Truckers be on the look out for this driver. Let’s bring him home safely to his family.
MrYowler says
The picture really is not any help. That could be practically any old white trucker.
Seriously, though – doesn’t the carrier have tracking equipment installed on it’s trucks/trailers? How far can a guy get without something tracking the vehicles? I have a gizmo in the car that I lend to my neighbor, that gives me a second-by-second detailed map of where my car has been, updated every 3 minutes over cellular networks. Sure, there isn’t always service everywhere, but the last update should provide a pretty good clue as to where they were headed… and I’m just a fat guy with a used car. Surely his carrier is more responsible with commercial equiment and the customer’s freight, than I am with a crummy 4-door Chevy sedan with 100,000 miles on it…? Right?
Has anyone checked the guy’s house? I mean, if he’s not in a ditch along the route he was taking, and he’s not calling for a load… Where would any of us be, after sitting idle for two weeks?

I googled the him, update as of Dec 13th the Ohio State highway patrol found him dead in The sleeper berth of his truck at a turnpike rest stop in Williams county Ohio which is the last county before going into Indiana. Rest in peace driver. Hope the rest of you guys with negative comments feel ashamed of yourselves.

Unhooking the e-log sounds a little suspicious.

Sadly, looking at the 2 images and the information, it seems there’s more concern in finding the trailer (nice clear image) than the driver (no effort in tilting his drivers license to get a clean pic)
Steve Allen says
I hope they got their damn trailer back. Just another example of how the companies really feel about their drivers. RIP brother, our prays go out to your family and friends.
Kevin says
The driver was found and has unfortunately passed over the rainbow.
Randy says
Sadly but more then likely he’s been hijacked killed and who knows where body is.

Sadly but more then likely he’s been hijacked killed and who knows where body is. Or he’s gone to Canada and sold the load and moved to Jamaica baby..
Daniel says
Sounds like a hijack to me
Pat says
Have they check the hospitals?
Sara says
Why would the ELD be disconnected . Unless it’s stolen. How much fuel is in that truck? What’s the load? In any case it’s an old truck . A Volvo not worth taking. I m not certain but doesn’t the ELD send info back to the company? Alot of trucks and trailers still don’t have tracking devices. Did anyone trace his phone location? I pray he is safe too.
Kari says
Sadly he passed away in his truck.
