ATA Unveils 2023 Law Enforcement Advisory Board

Today, the American Trucking Association unveiled its 2023 Law Enforcement Advisory Board (LEAB)—a panel formed in 2021 to advise the ATA Federation on strategies to strengthen relationships between the trucking industry and law enforcement organizations. The board is comprised of 38 ATA members with over 900 years of collective law enforcement experience. Fred Fakkema, vice president of safety and compliance for Zonar Systems, will serve as LEAB Chairman. Fakkema served 25 years in the Washington State Patrol. He said the board is making a positive impact on highway safety by working to align industry and law enforcement resources towards the common goal, such as truck parking, human trafficking, aggressive and distracted driving, and marijuana legalization.
