ATRI is asking truck drivers for their opinions on the impacts of state laws legalizing marijuana on the trucking industry and its workforce. The survey, first deployed in-person at the 2023 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) and remains open online through April 28, asks for driver workforce and safety perspectives.
ATRI’s marijuana impact research was a top priority of its Research Advisory Committee in 2022 due to the conflict between new state laws and federal law, especially for those in a federally regulated workforce. The survey asks for driver perspectives and knowledge of new state laws and their impact on roadway safety and the crew. It follows a survey issued to motor carrier staff and executives in February.
“Driver input is critical to ATRI’s research, and this survey is no exception,” said the President of ATRI, Rebecca Brewster. “We hope professional drivers will take a few minutes to provide their perspectives.”
