A former carrier owner has pled guilty to multiple charges stemming from his illegal business practices which could land him in jail for up to 20 years and force him to pay up to $2 million dollars in fines.
Giacomo Giorlando, formerly an owner of 4 G’s Trucking, a wine delivery business based out of New Jersey, has pled guilty to three counts of tax evasion and one count of bankruptcy fraud. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 5 years and $500,000.
According to the New Jersey States Attorney’s Office, Giorlando had been comingling his business revenue with his own funds. He would cash checks made out to his business and then deposit the money into multiple different bank accounts in his name.
In tax years 2011, 2012, and 2014, he significantly over-reported his business expenses to reduce his taxable income. Using this method, he admitted to defrauding the government of $460,012 in just those three years.
Despite these “savings,” Giolando filed for bankruptcy in May 2014. During the proceedings, he tried to hide at least 11 different bank accounts from the government. The accounts stayed successfully hidden and his bankruptcy was approved with his bank accounts still intact.
Giolando’s crimes were discovered during a joint investigation conducted by the FBI and IRS.
His sentencing has been scheduled for November 17th, 2017.
“He’s a guy with a solid character, a solid life history and work ethic,” Giorlando’s lawyer said according to App.com. “This was just an aberrational set of circumstances.”

Yes. Very aberrational.
Lawyers. Don’t you just love ’em?
Don’t steal, the government doesn’t like competition.
A choir boy to be sure.
“This was just an aberrational set of circumstances.” That’s a great line! I need to memorize this to use the next time I mess up!
With a name like his you know he’s probably mafiaosi. Or has freinds who are. If he’s well connected they’ll pay the fine and probably bribe the judge. Who will let him off with maybe a year or two in the county slammer followed by a lengthy probation. Still no fun but it sure beats the hell out of a 20 year beef.
Wow…He thought he was “Big Time” & he was right he won
Apparently he’s never heard of offshore bank accounts. Idiot.
