Next week the largest inspection blitz in North America will begin and before it’s over, tens of thousands of trucks will be pulled over for inspection. Make sure you’re ready.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck kicks off June 5th. The enforcement blitz is a partnership between enforcement personnel in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to the CVSA it is the largest targeted enforcement program on CMVs in the world. Level I Inspections will be the most common inspection. Last year over 62,000 inspections were performed.
While inspections will be comprehensive, every year the CVSA picks a specific aspect of compliance to pay special attention to. This year, it’s Hours of Service compliance. And with the ELD mandate in full swing, HOS compliance will also likely mean ELD compliance.
“Although the electronic logging device (ELD) rule that went into effect on Dec. 18, 2017, does not change any of the underlying hours-of-service rules or exceptions, the ELD mandate placed a spotlight on hours-of-service compliance,” said CVSA President Capt. Christopher Turner of the Kansas Highway Patrol. “We thought this year would be a perfect opportunity to focus on the importance of the hours-of-service regulations.”
Roadcheck will run from June 5th through June 8th.

It would be awesome if all of us truck drivers took a week of vacation starting June 5th!
I do.lol
Great idea
I was thinking the same.. That would be so Great…
Amen
It would be if it were labeled a strike against stagnant wages and over regulation. It would only take a few days of shutting down the industry to accretive the changes; America can’t run without trucks.
Clay..
Yeah , you’re so right . I wish I’ll see what’s going on or how’s economy doing 1 week without trucks on the road !!??
Clay we can’t do that because that DMV officer won’t get his quota in and even worse he/she won’t get the at-ta-boy pat on his back by his commanding officer. While they make it look good for themselves it puts us out of business.
We can do that. It’s a free country so we can do what we want. Plus at the end of the week, when grocery stores are out of food, stores are out of things to sell, gas stations are out of gas, the people and our government would realize just how important us truck drivers are to the country and economy!
It won’t happen because drivers have been split it by political talk shows like XM and Am terrestrial Radio stations.
It’s so bad driver have stopped buying CB radios and or won’t use em till an accident has occurred.
And you can bank on it that it’s intentionally being done because there are no stations speaking about 3rd party candidates!
Not that the cash or the demand ain’t there but because both parties don’t like competition for power and control of our minds!
They force people to think what they want them to think and act the way they want them to act and sadly vote for whom they want them to vote for. All of this has been going on for the last 200 years and so it’s hard to change people’s habits overnight. People pass this garbage down through their families for generations and our country keeps going further down the sewer every generation…. It’s quite sad indeed to see dream fade into a nightmare…
Sounds like a real good idea
I agree!
It’s almost as if we need some kind of group to belong to so we can organize strikes. Hint, hint
I have been hearing this crap since I started in the business in 1981. How the stores gas and other things run out. You can’t get 2 drivers to agree on anything. If you truck is in order than you don’t have to worry about anything. I have been driving for over 30 years and have never been shut down.
Safety in the name of the almighty dollar!!!
You won’t see many large Carriers pulled over or shutdown because they are the ones responsible for it in the first place!
Which is why I won’t even think about working for em!
This is cloak and dagger at its finest and I am make sure my voice is heard come midterm election!
I found out which of my elected officials took money from the ATA and now it’s payback TIME!!!
They do catch a lot of out of service equipment that shouldn’t be on the road. At the same time, they make us late for deliveries and don’t actually catch the bad drivers not doing inspections, driving OOS equipment on the road and cheating their hours every other week of the year.
The governing bodies are just a useless attempt to enforce safety that wastes our time and costs us money.
Hours ? I have 5 hours to drive 180miles,
But there are two accidents happen , so I sit there from good to a bad guy, my yard just 10 miles away
I hear the same every every inspection blitz. No, big company’s aren’t Gonna shut down but a good number of Independants etc., could and would get the message out there!
Going on vacation, don’t care about it.
You cant get ten Drivers to. Agree on something. How are we as a driver . Owner . Going to get this. ELD. GRAP. CHANGED?
Fact is the biggest companies out there have the newest most well maintained trucks on the road they don’t have the best drivers but the DOT knows they have safe well maintained equipment.
I shut down every year, biggest problem is most owner-operators they lease on with other companies. They are in the Iam a employee mode, instead of being business owners that’s why our pays is a dollar a dollar 35 a mile instead of what it should be
Every year we know this comes, different states do it a week or two before and after it. So unless you only drive in your home state to figure out their real schedule….
What are they going to do in future safety blitz weeks when trucks are self-driving?
Grammar Correction
I agree with all of you, while enforcers get a pat on the back, we get targeted for moving the country forward. Truck drivers should have a representative in Congress; a lobbyist can do the job; however, one the stands firm. Someone who understands the cause.
