FleetForce Truck Driving School finalized its market expansion with six new programs in Florida, beginning as early as March. These programs involve the establishment of six new training sites in partnership with community colleges in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Niceville, Daytona Beach, Ocala, and New Port Richey. Additionally, two existing sites in Lake City and Gainesville are expected to launch this year.
The training sites will produce ~3,000 new truck drivers annually, addressing a growing need and rescuing supply chains. This represents an economic and job opportunity boon to several communities. Graduates with CDLs will be in high demand.
Tra Williams, FleetForce owner: “Truck driving is essential to our economy and we are seeing an increasing demand for new drivers. Our new locations will soon produce a surge of professional drivers, which will be beneficial to Florida industries, the U.S. supply chain, and the economy.”
A 2019 Truck Driver Shortage Analysis from the American Trucking Association noted an exponential growth in the shortage of Class A tractor-trailer drivers since 2016, rising from 10,000 in 2011 to a record 60,800 in 2018. The study projected that the industry will need 1.1 million new drivers in the next five years due to industry growth, retirement, and natural attrition.
“Recruiting and retaining the next generation of professional truck drivers requires a shift in thinking,” said Alix Miller, President and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association. The success of FleetForce, which provides students with their CDL in as little as four weeks, “is a direct reflection of improving accessibility, efficiency, and promoting a new image of trucking,” further boosting the workforce and economy of Florida. FleetForce’s progressive business model and rapid expansion are a solution for other US states facing truck driver shortages.
