IMI, in collaboration with Redcat Industries, has unveiled its Lug Linx wheel safety system, a new product aimed at boosting fleet safety by identifying and preventing potential wheel detachment. This system is designed to detect loose lug nuts, offering fleets an extended window of time to address issues before they escalate into costly or dangerous problems.
According to IMI, the Lug Linx system features a point-to-point detection pattern that accurately indicates lug nut movement, allowing for early identification of loose nuts in need of retorquing. This proactive approach makes both pre-and-post trip inspections quick and efficient, helping fleets avoid downtime while also reinforcing their commitment to public safety.
The Lug Linx system comes in two versions: Lug Linx Standard, which melts at 248°F (120°C), and Lug Linx High Temp, designed for more extreme environments, handling temperatures up to 302°F (150°C). This makes it suitable for industries such as public transportation, waste hauling, and school buses, where frequent stop-and-start conditions can cause wheels to heat up.
The system is available in a range of sizes, ensuring compatibility with various fleet operations. Its easy installation and reliable performance make it a valuable tool for enhancing vehicle safety and efficiency. When paired with a robust wheel maintenance program, Lug Linx provides a preventative, cost-effective solution that can significantly reduce the risks of wheel detachment and extend the life of fleet vehicles.
Bob Fogal, IMI’s President, highlighted the company’s long-standing focus on wheel safety, stating, “We understand the vital importance of wheel safety and the costly consequences of ignoring it.”
