A reported Las Vegas trucker faces charges of breaching the U.S. Capital Building during the so-called “January 6th Riot” after the FBI discovered he allegedly made a series of tweets.
“I was in the capital … and all hell broke loose,” a tweet reportedly posted by commercial truck driver Bradley Nelson states.
More than a year has passed since pro-Trump protestors forcefully entered the building, sacking then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office, reading her mail, and holding a session of their own on the U.S. House floor. Nelson reportedly faces charges that include entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct, disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building, as well as parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building.
According to the FBI, Nelson drove his employer’s truck from Nevada to Washington, D.C., and parked at a nearby inspection station during the protests. Officials indicated they received tips that Nelson participated in what some call an “insurrection” and others refer to as a “dust-up.” Regardless of perspective, the tweets may have brought the Feds to Nelson’s door.
“I was one of those that breach that I was in the capital. I was in the (Rotunda) area when everybody got pushed through and all hell broke loose,” Nelson reportedly tweeted on Jan. 6, 2021. “I was there today. I was in the group to breach the capital. I’m sorry but till the death, that’s what we were told.”
The FBI also released a telling tweet they claim Nelson posted two days after the Capitol Building breach.
“If all of us that were there had taken our guns easiest decision do you think that that capital building would be in control of the capital police or do you think would be in control of it patriot Americans because we didn’t break a goddamn thing,” according to the FBI.
Reports indicate the FBI identified Nelson from his Nevada driver’s license and video footage taken during the incident. Investigators also claim they have evidence that his cell phone was in the vicinity on and around Jan. 6, 2001. Nelson appeared in Las Vegas federal court on Wednesday, March 22, and was released on his own recognizance. He has been ordered to appear in a District of Columbia federal court on Tuesday, March 28.
More than 1,000 people have been arrested in connection with the January 6 overrun of the Capitol Building. The U.S. Department of Justice indicated 220 have been sentenced to jail time.
