Yes, you read that right. Police in Dover, Delaware are searching for whoever left a prefabricated home sitting in the middle of the road on Tuesday.
“Sooooo somebody left a house on Long Point Road,” reads the Facebook post from the Dover Police Department. “Nope this is not a joke. We are unable to get anyone to move the house until Wednesday, so Long Point Road is closed until further notice. Please use an alternate route of travel.”
Police are not yet sure who left the house there or why, though in one of the pictures posted on the Dover Police Facebook page, the house does appear to be damaged.

The house is marked with a large ‘oversized load’ banner and flags. It was moved away with the help of another driver on Wednesday and the road was reopened.
Police say they’re unsure what – if any – charges will be filed when they find the person responsible.

LOL! I grew up in Dover and that is just the sort of thing you would expect to hear happening there. It’s a simpler sort of exciting time there.
That is so true got to drive thru the state one time and remember the rural character of the state and found it to be really peaceful..
Probably got forced onto ELDs and ran out of hours. Can’t go on line 5 with a trailer so that’s probably the compromise.
dude, elds have nothing to do with that. the house came off the trailer and the driver left the scene.
He was making a joke.
Dude, lighten up. You can’t possibly think he was serious. Jeesh…you should probably schedule some home-time; sounds like you’ve been in the truck way too long.
If the house came off the trailer (didn’t happen by the way), then why can you clearly see the frame and tires in the picture?
That’s so funny on the eld comment.. Andrew you’re the man… because you can’t pull a trailer for work if you run out of hours… I bet that guy lives in Dover … say to his wife at the last minute, no worries honey… got a loop hole … be ther in ten minutes…(personal drive time)LOL
Loooooool
It looks like the frame broke. They were probably trying to move it with all of their stuff still inside.
Frrreee house up for grabs!!!!
Police will probably confiscate it as something to do with drugs and use as their new break room.
So true! Will have donut maker installed as well.
Was there a girl named Dorothy and her dog ToTo inside? If so, I know how that house got there.
LMAOOOOO
There’s no place like home.
A virtual red neck mansion, just needs a tire and some angle iron welder up.
Blame it on the ELD…ran out of hours ! ! !
County owns it now….low income housing for someone.
Dude where’s my house
They made a song about this…
Our house…. in the middle of our street…
Bwaahaahaaahaaa!!!
As a ‘child of the 80s’…
The start of an urban renewal project by the federal government. It looks like the extent of their planning.
Oh! That’s where I lost it!!! 😉
I think this is my driveway.
Did anyone knock on the door? He might be a heavy sleeper!🧐
Broker did not pay enough so drop the trailer and get paid again when the government calls.
A driver came to help move it out??? Umm, maybe he’s the one that left it??
All of these comments just made my day, thanks!!
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our (something tells you that you’ve got to move away from it)
Hey, if I wasn’t running elogs, I could run illegally and not have a computer snitching on me. Ah the glory days where I could run 24 hours straight with my lose leaf paper logs and still have plenty of time to run…. let’s not forget the strippers and cocaine, life sure was fun back in the day when I was streaking past every truck in sight with all my 1 million chicken lights that could blind aliens on mars…..Disclaimer…..just being facetious…
Early in my career I saw a truck and trailer with so many lights it lit up both sides of the interstate. Glad to finally meet the owner.
InsideEdition.com spoke with Public Information Officer Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman, who said that it was discovered that the back part of the trailer went off into a ditch and the back axle broke under the weight of the house.
He added that due to the time of the day, no one could come fix it and they had to shut the road down.
By noon Wednesday, the house was moved and no one was in trouble.
Before I became a Trucker, I was a ‘desk jockey’ for a financial management company.
My boss (and friend) once told me me that, if I drove around long enough, I could find any/everything I need by the side of the road.
I thought he was joking…
Since I became a Trucker, I’ve seen appliances, bedding, furniture, storage devices, pools, clothing, food, as well as any number of other useful items. Everything, except a home.
Until now…
