The Women in Trucking Association recognized PACCAR and three of its female executives for excellence and leadership in the trucking industry.
PACCAR ranks among the world’s largest medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturers, producing commercial motor vehicles such as household names that include Kenworth, Peterbilt, Leyland Trucks, and DAF. Based in Bellevue, WA, the Fortune 500 company was established in 1905 and reportedly generates revenue upwards of $25.6 billion annually. The Class 8 truck manufacturer earned “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” honors for 2021.
“PACCAR is committed to hiring, developing, and promoting the most talented people and ensuring that our employees represent the diversity present in the global community,” CEO Preston Feight reportedly said. “We are proud that Lily (Ley), Brooke (Vasquez), and Erin (Luke) have been recognized for their industry leadership.”
Women in Trucking Association (WIT) is a non-profit organization that encourages employment and supports female accomplishments in the predominantly male industry. Paccar CIO Lily Ley was named 2021’s most “Influential Woman in Trucking,” and finalists included ReedTMS Logistics director of learning Eileen Dabrowski, and Quality Transport Company COO Amanda Schuier.
Winners were announced at the recent WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas, following a panel discussion called “Inspiring Stories: How to Power Your Career.” The finalists told their stories during the panel discussion that was facilitated by Daimler Trucks North America brand manager Elizabeth McManis.
“After our conference in 2020 was virtual, it was refreshing to host the event live and listen to these outstanding finalists share their inspirational stories with the audience,” WIT president and CEO Ellen Voie reportedly said. “This award is WIT’s way of highlighting Lily, Eileen, and Amanda for their commitment and service to the industry.”
Ley is an IT specialist who leads modernization efforts at PACCAR. Ley sits on the Master of Science in Information Systems board of advisers at the University of Washington, acts as executive sponsor for the Paccar Women’s Association, and remains an advisory board member with Seattle CIO. Ley was recognized as “2016 Washington Most Powerful and Influential Women” by the Washington Diversity Council.
Along with Ley, WIT honored Brooke Vasquez, PACCAR Parts senior director of marketing, and Erin Luke, assistant director of North American materials, were recognized as the “Top Women to Watch in Transportation” for 2021. The award highlights established industry leaders who also provide support for other women entering the trucking industry.
