During a three-week campaign, Pilot truck stops worked diligently to raise $1.75 million for the Call of Duty Endowment to help deserving veterans find gainful employment.
“We’re proud to support military service members and their families every day with a year-round discount at our stores,” Pilot CEO Shameek Konar reportedly said. “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our guests and the hard work of our team members to raise this record-setting amount for the Call of Duty Endowment.”
Pilot has partnered with the Endowment since 2019, and officials indicated their initial goal was to raise $500,000 before Veteran’s Day. After more than tripling that objective, more than 3,000 men and women who served will receive financial and other job-search support. The truck stop chain also kicked in $100,000 to support the cause.
The Call of Duty Endowment is a 501 non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans identify and secure good-paying career opportunities. Founded by Bobby Kotick in 2009, the organization also helps raise awareness about the value of hiring service members. It helped place upwards of 50,000 veterans through 2018, and more than 11,000 veterans took jobs paying more than $60,000 annually during 2019. The outfit wants to place more than 100,000 veterans by 2024.
The Endowment had received the lion’s share of its funding in conjunction with Call of Duty video game sales. Partners such as Pilot are helping to grow the non-profit’s ability to do good works.
The Call of Duty Endowment recently announced the recipient of its annual Seal of Distinction award was American Corporate Partners (ACP). Now in its eighth year, the Seal of Distinction honor goes to organizations that demonstrate a standard of excellence in the veterans’ employment sector.
“The Seal of Distinction is the premier standard for high performance in the veteran employment space,” Call of Duty Endowment executive director Dan Goldenberg reportedly said. “ACP’s unique model drives high quality economic outcomes for our veterans and is most worthy of this recognition.”
Providing mentoring and other support, ACP works with veteran families to find service members and their spouses good-paying careers. The Endowment will reportedly provide ACP with a $30,000 Unrestricted Grant for Excellence in Job Placement for Veterans, as well as other funding opportunities. Its mentoring program focuses on connecting post-9/11 veterans with corporate professionals who possess the expertise and experience necessary to acquire and maintain corporate positions.
“Since its inception, the Seal of Distinction program has proven to be the most effective non-profit evaluation approach in the veteran community. The program is the result of a phenomenal collaboration between Deloitte and the Endowment that systematically evaluates and identifies the highest performing non-profits in the veteran employment space,” according to a press release.
