Recipients of the 24th Annual Ryder Carrier Quality Awards were recently announced, recognizing American and Canadian carriers for service quality and operational excellence.
Ryder Systems bases the awards on wide-reaching metrics that include “on-time performance, customer service, economic value, claims handling, and technology applications,” according to reports. The industry-leading organization specializes in areas such as fleet, supply chain, and dedicated transportation management. Operating in North America and the U.K., Ryder became a household name due to its truck rental footprint. Ryder included a new category this year designed to honor the Most Innovative Carrier of the Year.
“Given the pace of change in the transportation and logistics industry, two factors carry the most weight in this year’s award program — a carrier’s commitment to investing in technology and in embracing innovation,” Ryder vice president Dave Belter reportedly said. “Those two factors have become the drivers of everything else. That’s why we encourage our carrier partners to adopt Ryder Share our one-of-a-kind visibility and collaboration technology tool. It’s the ultimate digital platform for all goods moving across the supply chain and a new standard for our transportation management partners.”
The Most Innovative Carrier of the Year award went to Mesilla Valley Transportation. The 39-year-old refrigerated goods hauler reportedly services 48 states and Canada with facilities in Las Cruces, NM, and in El Paso, Texas. Mesilla Valley Transportation reportedly ranks among the largest privately-owned truckload carriers in the U.S., with a fleet of 1,600 trucks and 5,600 trailers.
“At Mesilla Valley, we couldn’t be more proud to be recognized by Ryder as the Most Innovative Carrier of the Year,” Mesilla Valley CEO Bumper Jones reportedly said. “Our commitment to innovation and investments in technology continue to prove critical to our ability to consistently deliver operational excellence and superior customer service.”
