What is Samsara Agent Studio?
Samsara has launched Agent Studio, a platform that lets fleets create artificial intelligence agents without writing code. Available to all Samsara customers, it supports prebuilt tools and custom chat or voice agents. Fleets can use these agents to monitor compliance risks, analyze fuel use, and answer questions about company policies.
The agents draw on location, vehicle diagnostics, video, and driver behavior rather than relying only on general information. In addition, fleets can supply their own policies to tailor responses. Agent Studio works alongside Samsara Assistant, which helps managers investigate questions and complete tasks inside the dashboard.
How are fleets using the agents?
Samsara highlights customer deployments involving compliance, driver identification, and reporting. These examples show how agents can reduce routine checking and paperwork. However, the reported savings describe individual customers’ experiences, not guaranteed results for every fleet.
- Hours-of-service monitoring: S. Bertram Foods uses remaining stops, driving time, and shift time to identify potential violations three hours ahead. Samsara says the agent reduced weekly manual review time by 84%.
- Unassigned driving: StreamTech Industrial uses an agent to find trips where drivers have not logged in. The company reduced unassigned driving time by 500 hours over two months, according to Samsara.
- Monthly reporting: Grand Isle Shipyard combines forms, inspection records, and asset data into reports taking about five minutes per division. Samsara reports a 99% reduction in report preparation time.
How can voice agents help drivers?
Voice agents can make and receive phone calls, allowing drivers to access operational guidance outside office hours. For example, crossing a geofence—a virtual boundary around a location—could trigger a call explaining a facility’s entrance, parking arrangements, yard speed limits, and required safety equipment. This guidance can reflect the fleet’s own instructions.
Drivers can ask follow-up questions, and agents can collect details after a delivery. Managers can then analyze recurring issues, including facilities with lengthy dwell times. Separately, a food distributor’s Driver Wingman agent answers questions about personal conveyance, parking, and fuel stops using company policies.
How quickly is adoption growing?
Samsara says AI agent adoption increased sevenfold since June 2026. Among organizations with agents deployed, 34% operate at least two. Voice interactions surpassed chat within four weeks of the voice-agent launch and remained higher afterward.
The company also reported that its first 500,000 agent interactions took 112 days, compared with 16 days for its most recent 500,000. More than half of organizations using voice agents have at least doubled their weekly usage. These figures measure activity on Samsara’s platform, rather than adoption across the entire trucking industry.
