The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized three Toyo Tires models through the federal SmartWay program as able to help increase fuel economy and reduce nitrogen oxides, reported Fleet Owner magazine.
The three models are Toyo’s M127 free-rolling trailer tire, M137 steer tire and M657 drive tire. Both the steer and drive tire models are intended for long-haul use, boasting a sturdier bead construction and belt package. The improvements with Toyo’s e-balance technology, the company expects these tires to have longer endurance and better resistance to wear.
The fuel savings from using these tires is projected at about 3 percent, the report said.
