Law enforcement has been finding small sharpened bits of metal littering highways in Texas. These devices, known as caltrops, are capable of forcefully and dangerously deflating tires, causing blow outs and accidents. Law enforcement is asking for help from the general public in identifying a suspect.
According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, the caltrops are made from rebar. They are sharpened to four metal points so that there is always a sharp edge sticking up. They are about 3 inches across and have been painted black – apparently to help make them difficult to see against a roadway.
In the past week, the Sheriff’s Office has collected caltrops off of I-20, US-69, and FM314. As many as 30 caltrops have been recovered from just one location. And up to 300 have been found in the past week according to CBS19 in Smith County.
Even possessing caltrops is a felony in Texas. It’s also illegal to manufacture, transport, repair, or sell them. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the caltrops require specialty machinery to make.

Anyone with a welder can make these.
The police use ones with hollowed out centers so they stick into the tire and the air is let out through the hole. These crude ones will stick in, initially, then fly out in a various direction possibly injuring or killing someone. I hope they find whoever is doing this.
I once reported tactics for reading other people’s email, on a news website, and was publicly flayed for providing the public with the information to enable email intrusions.

Without this kind of information, no preventative or corrective action is possible. As the devil in your gmail, in about January of 2004, I’d just like to ask how a self-driving vehicle might be expected to handle this sort of thing – and how that might compare to the way that the unemployed former professional driver throwing them onto the roadway in protest, might have done?

When three million truckers with essentially no other marketable job skills get pushed out of their jobs by robots, you don’t think a few whack-a-roni’s might get it into their heads to prove how essential they are, by sabotaging their robot masters – er, replacements? Jesus has been dead for a long time (if he ever lived at all – my theory is that he was at least a dozen different people, amalgamated into one myth… for a guy who lived in severe oppression during a time when travel was inefficient and slow, he sure got around…) He isn’t involved in, or keeping track of, everything that is discussed on this forum. We get that you’re way up in his backside, and even if he liked that, even he would undoubtedly ask you to stop making it a matter for public discussion.
If your relationship with Jesus requires this much advertising, it must not sell itself very well. You should spend more time and energy talking *with* Jesus (perhaps more listening than talking), and less time talking *about* him. If you knew him well enough to tell his story, you’d know that his message was spread through his deeds, and he saved his words for those that inquired, in a forum set aside for that purpose. Because exhorting your beliefs to the disinterested, closes their hearts and minds, making your words into the tools of the devil.

If Jesus wanted everyone to talk about him, all the time, he’d engage in verbal discourse with everyone, all the time, himself. Maybe that’s how heaven works… Or hell – I imagine that conversation would get stale quickly, especially for him.
Either way, the out-of context discourse appeals only to the like-minded, which defeats the effort to spread knowledge. Those needing it, lose interest and stop listening. Those wanting it, are in other forums that are designated to that purpose, so they aren’t here to hear it.

I saw a video of BLM activists trying to block the road and open up a FedEx truck and attack the driver, while it was moving.
Now you have to risk a front tire blowout and loss of control.
I would need health insurance, guaranteed income compensation, federal resources for alleviating parking shortage, and the ability to carry a gun for self defense before I would do it again.
Caltrops are nothing more than simple terrain denial weapons which are being misused in this case.
Da’gubmint’s felonizing their manufacture/possession is anti-freedom. Their misuse is ALL that should be criminal.
Well… On that logic, I should also be allowed to manufacture and possess nuclear weapons. As well as dangerous bio-agents and chemicals… But we have big problems even with governments doing that. Heck, ours is the only government in the world ever to actually use nuclear weapons in combat, and it’s reasonably arguable that we targeted civilians, when we did so…
Maybe caltrops don’t rise to that level of threat. (Well, certainly they do not…) But that makes it a question of degree, and therein lies a slippery slope. Are caltrops more of a threat to public safety than firearms? If not, doesn’t that argue for criminalizing the manufacture and possession of firearms?
