A trucker faces felony charges after she allegedly sprayed her co-driver in the face with a can of bear spray. The other driver was allegedly trying to stop her from driving the rig while drunk.
It was around 3am on Tuesday when Bonneville County sheriff’s deputies received a call that there was a woman throwing rocks at a vehicle in the yard of an Idaho trucking company. But when they arrived, they found a very different scene than they expected.
No truck, no woman. Just a half-naked man standing outside in 19-degree weather, screaming in pain.
According to the Idaho State Journal, the unnamed victim told police that he had been sprayed with bear spray by Crystal Renay Allery. He said Allery became angry when he would not let her drive the truck while she was drunk. Allery allegedly used an 8-ounce can of bear spray on him while he was asleep in the truck.
Police wrote in the affidavit that the man was “covered from the crown of his head to below his shoulders in an orange oily substance.” Bear spray is far more potent than pepper spray and can cause permanent blindness when used at close range.
A short time later, police were able to apprehend Allery at a nearby truck stop.
Allery told deputies that she did bear spray the man, but only because he was choking her. According to the affidavit, there were no marks on her neck or other indications that she had been attacked.
Allery has been arrested and charged with felony domestic battery. She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

Pitiful, very few professionals truck drivers
Jeffrey Weibel says
I personally never wanted to team drive for a myriad of reasons. Being sprayed w/ bear spray is not on the last. I shall add it upon completion of this comment!!!
Ernie says
One of the big reasons I love driving is that I don’t have to tolerate coworkers.
IF I needed another reason to stay away from team-driving….

Parole Man says
If I was driving with you, I would be sure to have bear spray!!
Erik says
Indeed! I’m adding it to my list as well. Just another compelling argument against.

john neberman says
she wasn’t charged with drunk driving in a commercial vehicle?
M Smith says
That’s why she sprayed him because he would not let her drive drunk. So she wasn’t behind the wheel at all.
Gail m says
She ended up at a local truck stop. She must of drove there.
😘

Did the police report her alcohol level?
Tlm says
I don’t understand how he was stopping her from driving if he was asleep. Also if she was caught right away was she not given an alcohol test as I don’t see where she was charged with dui. Something is strange here. I have always driven team because of the craziness and only had once I contacted dispatch to get me off the truck. The guy was a new citizen and treated women like crap, didn’t know the laws and wouldn’t even slow down for rr crossings, and instead of showing me the things done at different drops would talk to the others in spanish. He was hateful and I told them get me off the truck before I kicked his butt. I only had one problem with one team driver the other guys were really nice and respectful. I did tell them to never put me on with another hispanic. He even treated his wife like crap when she called him.
M Smith says
The way that he could be asleep and stop her from driving is he could take the keys and hide them from her.
M Smith says
She can’t be charged with DUI if she was not behind the wheel driving. He didn’t allow her to drive, that’s why she sprayed him. He more than likely hid the keys so she could not drive
Dale Schaefer says
Not sure why I keep reading these, this is a terrible news and information site. They report half or less of the facts. Just another rag paper.

Sensationalistic and ignorantly bias. Another story quoted here ” Bidens LONG AWAITED infrastructure plan “….long awaited by whom and The Man just got in office. Long awaited means months and years. Anticipated would be a better word. Maybe the reporters here are bad in English or have limited vocabulary. I dont know
Fozzy says
The same people have been promising infrastructure spending for “months and years”… Where have you been?

Let me guess CRST?

When you get drunk and act like a fool then you get your dose of a police intervention, this woman has a drinking problem, and then she can’t control herself afterwards, so she thought of driving after having one too many and put herself and all around her in DANGER, what s moron, she needs to stay away from trucking and anything related to that indu
Jim says
Something tells me she won’t be driving any time soon.
Pokey99999 says
I had two co drivers, one at a time of course,lol.. first one kept hitting things, company mandated he team drive or lose job. We had teamed before he met a woman and teamed with her, another story there. So we are in Jersey, wide OPEN docks! New Painted lines on ground. Well he chained the door open Loosely , then couldn’t back up worth a crap. Up and back, up and back. Door unhooked from chain hook and that’s when he bumped dock, knocking off the door of trailer.
Got fired later when we were closer to home( west coast)
2nd co-driver was from Indonesia , when he drove through a small town he would scream “ Chinese food, Chinese food” I would get up and say where ? He would say there and point to it. I would say where? I don’t see it? It would be at least three miles down the road. Had eagle EYES I guess! Drove in the parking lot like he owned it and we would go eat Chinese food! Good stuff!

This article was pretty bear as far as details go. It could bear having a lot more information assuming updates become available, if the info bears on the incident. Bear in mind that we don’t know if this was a small guy, or a bear of a man. I mean, the article bearly scratched the surface of what probably happened. Did the man bear his fists at her? Will he sue her or the trucking company, or just grit his teeth and bear it? I’ll bet she couldn’t bear it if she is found guilty and gets the full ten years. I doubt she’d be none to happy about having to bear her finances if she got sued, either. I do hope the guy can bear up under all of the stress.
Steven J. Unterseher says
This woman puts the ho in Idaho. Hopefully Idaho puts her out. Then hopefully she gets help. I guess I will add, “Driver will not discharge bear / pepper spray onto or in the vicinity of a co driver or any other person attempting to prevent said driver from operating company equipment where operating said equipment would break applicable laws and place driver, co driver and anyone possibly affected by doing so.” to my driver manual. And people wonder why a company rule book is so thick.
MrYowler says
Rules that are established by one-off crazy behaviors only serve to insult and punish everyone else. If you aren’t going to reward everyone when one person goes above and beyond, then you should not insult or otherwise punish everyone when one person goes off the deep end. Fire the dimwit, and move on – and try not to hire any more dimwits.
ROBERT says
If drinking is such a priority in your life, then you need to find a different career field. We can’t tolerate this behavior. That woman needs to be in prison for a long time.
Don M says
When i changed company’s they made me team for 2 months. Longest 2 months of my life. Never again. We are still good friends. But neither of us really slept well. And we are both over a million mile drivers.
Souldog says
They didn’t tell the whole story they both were drinking and he went to advance on her and she said not tonight that’s all I can say investigation going on
MrYowler says
No indication of that in the story, and only one person under arrest.
If I were the lady driver, that’s the story I’d be telling, since it’s nearly impossible for him to disprove, and excuses more-or-less any aggression from her, in today’s “me too” world.
It seems like a massive over-reaction, to cover his head and shoulders with bear spray, even if it were true. Kick his half-naked ass out of the truck, call the cops, and call your dispatch to tell everyone what happened, but once the man is incapacitated, you’re done inflicting pain and damage. He can beat on the truck and the locked doors if he wants – the cops and the carrier will take care of that. And once he’s down, she is also free to run for help… continuing to hurt the guy is aggression – not self-defense.
The implied accusation of sexual assualt here, is a little to easy, too pat, and just not credible enough. This was done in anger – not fear.
Jim says
And you know this how?
John says
I team with my son. Living the dream.
Uncle John says
Only the employer/shipper/broker benefit from team driving. Those whom are teams always get burned in some way – who can sleep in a moving truck driven by someone you don’t know and maybe they wreck at 75 mph? Just to move a higher volume of freight in a shorter period of time to make the shareholders wealthier? I make a few pennies less per mile to stay alive! And my truck ain’t moving when I sleep!
Uncle John says
Yes I am solo OTR and always will be.
Daddy says
Years ago I tried to stop a CO driver from driving drunk out of that casino truck stop just inside the Nevada border by the Bonneville salt flats .I informed for my company about that . I drove the remainder of the run to Fontana on the way we stopped in calexico and he got drunk again. When we got back to the yard they tested him for drugs, he asked if they were going to test him for alcohol, they said no and he was retained. The company began with a C and ended in a ST. This was 16 years ago. By the way I had to split miles with this fook.
