The Trucking Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of the trucking industry, has made a significant contribution of $25,000 to support the fight against human trafficking through a donation to the nonprofit organization, Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT). TAT is dedicated to ending human trafficking by leveraging the unique position of truck drivers to identify and report incidents of exploitation.
John Lynch, Senior Vice President of Federation Relations at the American Trucking Associations, emphasized the critical role truck drivers play in this battle, highlighting their training and natural vigilance as essential tools in spotting and aiding victims. TAT’s Executive Director, Esther Goetsch, expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support, noting that the funds will help further develop training resources and enhance anti-trafficking initiatives across the country.
Human trafficking remains a widespread issue in the United States, with victims numbering in the hundreds of thousands. TAT, through its partnerships with law enforcement and government agencies, has trained over 1.8 million transportation and law enforcement professionals, significantly contributing to the rescue of victims and the apprehension of traffickers.
The Trucking Cares Foundation focuses on a range of humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief, leadership development, and strengthening ties with law enforcement and military organizations, with a strong commitment to eradicating human trafficking.
