Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has issued a recall on hundreds of trucks because their steering wheels might fall off.
According to the recall notice posted on the NHTSA website, there is an issue with the steering wheel which may cause it to loosen. If that happens, “the steering wheel may detach from the steering column.”
The NTSB report states helpfully; “If the steering wheel detaches, there would be a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.”
2019 Freightliner Cascadia and 2019 Western Star 5700 tractors may be affected. In total 622 units are being recalled.
DTNA will be replacing the steering wheels as necessary for no charge. To find out if your truck has been affected, you can call DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL796.
Nice deal there for those rookie drivers, bet they didn’t learn that in truck school , driving with out a steering wheel

Wet dreams are mostly enjoyable. This would be more like a poop-in-your-pants with a broken jaw at the end of the ride. Make sure to apply firm pressure to steering wheel at all times! (Don’t even think about using it as a grab handle to get inside vehicle after a mandatory break.)

Volvo had a problem in the past and not one notice went out! Not one!
I had one break the grip under the dash luckily I was in a parking lot making a u turn some time after that I saw a driver that was also lucky and managed to steer his to the side of the road. I was driving a 10 th anniversary edition and yes I told the DOT in Washington and that’s the last I heard from em.
On a last note, the Volvo shop told the repairman “Oh that happens all the time” as though it’s not a big deal.

This was planned so that the wheel holders can take the steering wheel wherever they go, restroom, Subway, shower etc.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Freightliners SUCK and for good reason! I have driven the Volvo’s besides a Freightliner and at least the Volvo has an Air Bag for the Driver!! I do think Air bags should be mandatory on all trucks and Buses.
