Through its Redefining the Road magazine, the Women In Trucking Association (WIT) recently published the 2022 recipients of the Top Companies for Women to Work For in Transportation.
The award was created through the magazine in 2018 to help fulfill the non-profit organization’s mission “to promote the accomplishments of companies that are focused on the employment of women in the trucking industry.”
Redefining the Road publisher Brian Everett indicated that specific characteristics are necessary to earn a Top Companies honor. These include a culture that fosters gender equity, fair and equal compensation, professional development, reasonable work schedules, and opportunities for career advancement, among others.
“These corporate attributes are essential to any successful enterprise that is serious about gender diversity. Identifying the companies on this list involves a two-step process. First, nominations of the companies are received and carefully reviewed to ensure they qualify by meeting a minimum threshold of qualifications — including these characteristics we look for. Then the final ballot of companies is voted on by individuals in the industry,” Everett reportedly said. “This is the fifth year of this prestigious recognition program and it garnered a record number of more than 22,000 votes to identify and validate the final companies named to the list.”

My father is a retired truck driver. I am interested in changing my career for something that pays better and has much better benefits. Plus I’ve always loved traveling. What better than to do something I love and make my father proud too!
