A trucker who called in a fire in the night has saved the lives of a family of seven according to a local fire department. Brandon Leblanc, the truck driver, was driving across the Magnolia Bridge in Central, LA in the early hours of the morning when he saw a fire in the distance. He called 911 and reported the blaze to authorities who were dispatched in time to wake up the occupants of the home and get all seven of them and all five of their dogs out of the house safely.
When the firefighters arrived, the family was still asleep, but they were able to wake them all by banging on doors and windows. They were unable to get a fire engine up to the house because of the condition of the gravel driveway, so they called for a 4-wheel drive truck with a water tank and pump to help put out the fire.
The local fire department reported that they did not have a working smoke detector in their home. The fire was caused by “discarded smoking materials.”
Fire officials have credited Leblanc for saving the family.

Hats off to Brandon Leblanc. His actions exemplify whats great about truck drivers. As I read this story I realized to my dismay how many fires I’ve seen from the highway. I never once made the call always assuming it was a controlled burn, or people already knew about it … eesh … Maybe I should be a bit more proactive.
I am so glad he did not have that NY attitude of ” I am not getting involved, none of my business”.
Way to go Brandon, . I have made calls in the past for fires, what appeared to be abandoned cars, people in or around broke down vehicles and patrol cars with no one around them. Never did I consider it a waste of time. .Always the 911 operator said thank you or we have received several calls on that situation.. Never a waste of time.
Hell of a guy!…
