Drivers that run this type of equipment, do they stay busy running trailers this large? Are they usually out months at a time ? It would be interesting to see what it's like to be a real heavy hauler.![]()
Guys who run 19 axle type jobs.

...i heard from one of the low boy owner that when you have this type of equipment - loads looking for you compared to you looking for load ... Not sure if this is rumor ...
asphaltreptile311 Thanks this. -
This is equipment run by a Heavy Haul project company like Miller or Turner -
Our company runs two 19 axle trailers. While they do sit idle weeks at a time. One decent load makes it worthwhile. (My truck isn't big enough to pull em). It's typically a team operation and then there is police escorts involved. PA will bring their own portable scales so things need to be right. We have a driver that has all the steering controls in his cab. And is pretty much able to steer most of it unless it's a tight spot.

I bet the driver operating this type of equipment feels like he is a SUPERMAN ...i i would feel it this way for sure !

I think youd have to enjoy stress, discipline, responsibilty and challenges to last a day in something like that.

They're pretty busy, particularly in the northeast where there are not many companies capable of hauling superloads or even getting permitted for them. Usually not out months at a time, just a week or two. Lots of short runs as well, big stuff coming in from the port that needs to be put in storage until delivery.
The trailer in OP's photo is a Trail King that had a major overhaul couple years ago. That was one hell of a trip, NJ to SD and back. It took months. -
