I run otr flatbed for Western Express. Started in August. Still liking it. I personally have no complaint but I hear from other drivers some terrible behavior from DMs. My guys have been great. 1 left the company, my next guy moved up to the supervisor of my current guy. Both of them are nice and communicate well.
But if you have a bad DM... you're toast....
I make cpm as an otr, ( .40$ and they taught me securement ) and tarp pay (a sad 25$) and average 2200 to 2500 miles a week, my choice... that's my happy place. My take home is around 750-900 after blue Cross blue shield and taxes.
The guys I know on regional are doing it to get home and I believe most do get home enough to be satisfied. What I hear is 900$ or 1000$ or something like that for a week with 1500 miles or 5 loads, and then .50$ a mile for the miles after the minimum.
I think Western is like Swift, fun to pick at, with plenty of disgruntled former drivers, but WE has 2500 trucks and I meet guys here for 7,8 even 11 years. So maybe it's what you make of it....

You've got 6 months go to Ew Wylie or some place that pays money , you'll get 75$ tarp pay there. I won't even wipe my ### for 0.40 cpm and for flatbed that is borderline slavery. You are seriously underachieving yourself by staying at place like welfare depressed truck lines .

I've got to say back in the day getting home was the last thing out of your mouth when looking for a driving job , is it just me or have things changed.

Lol with Western I've been home once to get mail in Nov and then last weekend and Monday to meet a boiler installer and an electrician.
But I have made 70k miles... -
My buddy was a recruiter and potential drivers ask that first , before the meat and potatoes questions.

That's near 10 k miles a month for a take home of 800$ pulling a flatbed . Lone star will guarantee 55k your first year and those guys average around 1900 miles a week. They will take you on at 6 mo experience. You are getting exploited.FoolsErrand Thanks this.
