When the areas go into full lock down shelter in place, you will see a lot of the truck stops go to fuel only.

Screw that, I'm turning & burning for home. I'm not making all that much on this, I'm sure not gonna stay stranded 400 miles from home on the possibility they MIGHT load me.

I drove through PA on 81 & the Turnpike today. The rest areas are completely closed, and the parking lot is fully barricaded. However the service plazas on the Turnpike still allow parking, but you can’t access the building. Don’t worry though, if nature calls, they gave you a nice, clean Port O John to use!

One of the most informed posts I've seen here today. More need to do this, home is where your resources and defenses are.

I'm currently limiting my runs to within a day and a half of home base, and keeping enough supplies and fuel on the truck to bounce straight home.

But I'm an O/O. I have options not available to company drivers. Including the extended middle finger as I take the numbers off my door if necessary.

My thoughts exactly. Money isn't more important than family...especially when there isn't much coming in

Curious, because this is the million dollar question here, did they put out those porta john sinks that they supply to concerts and faires or just outhouses?

For the record, there's a rest area just outside of Harrisburg on 81 around exit 80 that's usually very popular. They just started a multi-year rebuilding of that spot, last time I passed it they had ripped up all the asphalt and were regrading the earth underneath. So while that been a real PITA for guys that use that area it actually has nothing to do with what's going on now.

Using those ports johns is like playing russian roulette. Right now there is one bullet in the chamber. Soon there will be two, then three, and in a few weeks, there will be five bullets in the chamber.
