I just completed my first load in a regional driving position. After unloading I got my next load. It is scheduled to load 5 hours later. Do most companies not pay anything for this time lag?

No most companies won't pay for that downtime. Usually you need to be down 24 hours to get any type of pay. Yes it does suck and hopefully it won't always be that way and your miles stay pretty good. Any chance you could maybe load early?

    rachi and Joemoderate Thank this.

Is your next load at the same facility or a different place?

I’d be thrilled if I got reloaded 5 hours after being empty every time. A few weeks ago I waited 3 days for a load. Count your blessings.

Always go to google maps and zoom in on your
    Next customer.
See if they have a big lot for parking or if trucks
Are parked out on the street.

If you can park anywhere close by, then go straight
To the customer and check in.
Forget about what they tell you on the phone about
    Strict appointment times.

With you being there in person, they might back
    You right into a dock.
Or call you in early,if someone else doesn't show up.
And don't ask your dispatcher to do any of this.
    You do it all yourself.
    That's how you keep moving.

Yes this. If they won't load you then at least you are there parked and can be working on a 10 hour break or an 8/2 split so when you are all loaded you can maybe have a fresh clock.

    Western flyer Thanks this.

Countless times I've gone to places early to load/unload and they didn't say a thing, just asked for my pickup number. If they do honor the times, I just wait. At least I know I'll be there on time since I'm camping out in their parking lot lol

    alds and tscottme Thank this.
