If one learns how to sharpen drill bits with nothing more than a bench grinder and thier hands... They will literally save thousands of dollars over a lifetime.

At the fertilizer plant I use to work at I once spent an entire day sharpening drill bits. We had just rearranged and cleaned the shop. In the process we found several hundred bits, ranging from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inch. Most were very dull, many were broken or badly chipped.

By the end of the day there were only a handful that I wasnt able to get sharpened. After that day I was constantly being asked to come sharpen bits as they became dull. Previously the SOP had been to just go buy a new set, which inevitably was very cheap. A year later we hadnt bought a single set of bits, and I was able to convince the bosses to let me buy 1 nice set of bits to be used only for new fabrication... Not repairs.

Yup learned that as well. Yet when the drill breaks close to the shank where there are no flutes. It is rather hard to sharpen.

    SO

My alternator for the APU should still be under TK free replacement warranty.

    SO

It's now laying in the passenger side floor board, when I drop my trailer Monday for loading, I'll get a new one.

Why am I dropping my trailer for loading? Cause there's no freight. In fact there's so little freight, when otter drops and hooks, he's dropping his at the same place. Except his load pays like twice as much. Me and The OM are going to talk more about that.

Boy the engineers at TK couldn't have put that in a much more F up place.

    SO

Should have done it yesterday, would have saved me putting the covers back on.

And it gets pretty hot in the direct sun now too.

Those make AWESOME center punches. The tool steel needs to be anealed, then a point ground and hardened. When done correctly thus type of center punch can be repeatedly used to punch hardened steel without damaging a near needle sharp point of the punch. When the point does become damaged, a quick touch up on the grinder and rehardening is all that is necessary.

I prefer 2 sizes... 3/8 and 3/4. Occasionally a 3/16 comes in handy if punching in a very tight spot

Are you suggesting that the OM is skimming your rates?
