I spoke to an unnamed source that claims that one of the companies involved with the upcoming Daseke phase 2 merge/size reduction is going to be the Canadian company "Big Freight" getting merged into Wylie. And then they will handle the majority of the export loads...may God have mercy on their souls...they have no idea what they're in for
Lonesome and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
so u still working for them, snackbar? or is it back to BIG G EXPRESS?
-
I am still at Eeeeew Wylie.
I wouldn't work for Big G again if they were the only trucking company on earth...I would go back to work for Poly before being desperate enough to work for Big G...and I would only work for Poly when the devil needs a snowmobile suit.Lonesome, Dale thompson, stuckinthemud and 1 other person Thank this. -
what exactly was the issue at big g? they paid 50cpm to start, right? were they giving you zero miles?
laid off and wondering where I might go next...rachi Thanks this. -
i've been leaning toward big g also but idk with the current economy.unsteady times.......

Have you seen the new Wylie terminal?
It would’ve paid for a nice raise for the drivers that are paying for it..
Supposedly, they are going to have a forced valet when you pull in. They will run it through the shop and the wash bay, I’m sure that will entail checking the inside of your truck for you as well.
I’m not a fan of other people driving the truck I live in to be quite frank.. -
They started me (with 20+ years OTR) at $.40. And then they couldn't plan for crap. They would start you heading for a load, then change their mind and send you in a totally opposite direction for a different load, then change again. I had been assigned and removed from 6 loads in one day. After you plan out a load, time it so you could get close and take a break before delivery, they would call and ask if you could help on a urgent load (that they could see you couldn't make the delivery legally)...then promise they would find someone to relay it with if you would just get the load moving...then wouldn't find anyone and have to reschedule both the load you had, and the one you were helping out with. I got sick of it and stopped answering their calls, then they just stopped asking and swapped you and got pissed when you couldn't make the swapped delivery time. And this happened a lot, not just once in a while. Then when I put in my notice(more than 2 weeks), they routed me home, gave me a day or two to clean it out, then routed me back to the terminal they wanted the truck returned to, and even got a call from the office the day before I turned in the truck asking me to stay....then after I said no, they put it on my DAC that I quit without notice and dropped truck at unauthorized terminal.Last edited: Apr 25, 2020
Gearjammin' Penguin, TokyoJoe, Lonesome and 4 others Thank this. -
I saw Moore HQ in Mascot is 100% EW Wylie branded yesterday when loading at Lifetime across the street. What a shame they ran that place into the ground. Our East TN based companies with a “decent” reputation are dropping like flies, although I think that’s trucking in general
supersnackbar Thanks this. -
Yea, it's sad to see friendly, driver friendly companies fade away like this. I don't entirely blame Wylie or Daseke for this merger...if Moore's new management (after the sale to Daseke) would have managed the Daseke money better, and knew how to build and maintain their customer base, then we would still be Moore and other glass divisions would be merging with us.Last edited: Apr 26, 2020
