When you sit at the terminal for weeks on end, just you and your old beat up semi, and you go in the office everyday, and everyone acts like they don’t know you.
Also, you no longer get paid.
Just go on back out to your truck.

Zackly!. They will soon figure out who isn't worth the hassle. Can you imagine a Driver manager or dispatcher whatever approaching their boss saying, " We need to get rid of this driver, he keeps asking for work".?

Freight is is slow everywhere, except maybe reefer. But currently you won't be able to switch to another company simply because most HR's sitting at homes , and not trying to hire new guys... so sit still wait till all this pandemic garbage will move away and they reconsider a company who you working for.

Lanz Bulldogs had a very interesting history until 1956 when they became John Deere-Lanz. Sad.

It’s bad right now for even us refers. I’m based out of N Texas and my checks have been chopped in half over night. This week I’ve sat all but One day and only driven 4 of the past 10 days legitimately. Dispatch playing games to keep from paying out much detention of any. Three days ago they had me run a “local load” 36 miles to prevent me getting a days detention at literally 23:52 minutes before the 24 hour mark. Ridiculous!
Average check had been from $1300 down to like $700 or less.
I would ride it out and stick with my current company, however the games, manipulation and outright thievery of wages, has shown me who I truly work for.magoo68 Thanks this. -
If you’re the newer driver the company is giving the drivers with seniority the loads. There are loads just many of them are paying nothing so companies have less they’re willing to take. If you’ve been there sometime then you’re probably a less dependable driver and they don’t want the little loads they can get to end up late and ruining profit margins. It’s dog eat dog market right now driver. Hold on until they fully open up the markets.

If I was a manager / owner of a company, I’d come up with some creative ways to keep my drivers happier. Not telling them anything and just having them randomly sit on a truck for 2-3 days between loads on standbye mode and then trying to jip them out of even the measly detention pay is not the best way to handle it. You’re breading disgruntled drivers. Instead i’d offer a voluntary rotation. Let drivers work and run hard a week on and then take 5-7 days off. It’s just sitting and not knowing when your next load is coming and being at their mercy and disposal does driving a lot of drivers crazy. Let them collect unemployment the weeks they’re off. This none sense of just sitting for no pay so you’re ready when they are, is not a fair way to handle it.Qbf594, Speed_Drums and G13Tomcat Thank this.
