Everything looked fine during pretrip and when I pulled over and looked. So I guess it was a sensor. This particular truck has always had problems, Everytime I've gone to drive it, there's been an issue, from major electrical to dumping fuel all over the yard when hooked up. TM said everything was fixed and it should run like new. It did for a few hours, then this happened.Mike2633, road_runner and McUzi Thank this.

Some of these old folks at the stores think they own the dock. Tell him to stick it next time. i told the old timer at Monroeville where to go and never had an issue after that. LOLMike2633 Thanks this.

There's a trick with COBRA for you YRC guys. (having been laid off, ummmmmmmmm a lot) You can basically backdate it if something happens. So you don't pay in month 1 and month 2. But something happens month 3 and you go to hospital and actually need insurance. so you pay all 3 months and boom good to go. And if nothing happens during that time period, well you've saved a ton of money. I want to say it's good for 90 days, might be 180. It's well worth doing a little research of your own (HR isn't going to know squat and the insurance co certainly doesn't want you to know this).
oh one ETA. If the company actually goes bust bust and gets rid of everyone and stops doing business, there is no COBRA because there is no employee plan. (learned that one the hard way in 01)
I hope this helpsLast edited: Jun 16, 2020

where you start making friends and believing in your kidnappers.
Stockholm syndrome - Wikipedia
Stockholm syndrome has been defined as a condition in which hostages develop a psychological alliance with their captors during captivity.[1] Emotional bonds may be formed between captor and captives, during intimate time together, but these are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims.
There are four key components that characterize Stockholm syndrome:
- A hostage's development of positive feelings towards the captor
- No previous relationship between hostage and captor
- A refusal by hostages to cooperate with police forces and other government authorities (unless the captors themselves happen to be members of police forces or government authorities).
- A hostage's belief in the humanity of the captor because they cease to perceive the captor as a threat when the victim holds the same values as the aggressor[6]
Nils Bejerot, a Swedish criminologist and psychiatrist coined the term after the Stockholm police asked him for assistance with analyzing the victims' reactions to the 1973 bank robbery and their status as hostages. As the idea of brainwashing was not a new concept, Bejerot, speaking on "a news cast after the captives' release" described the hostages' reactions as a result of being brainwashed by their captors.[2] He called it Norrmalmstorgssyndromet, meaning "the Norrmalmstorg syndrome"; it later became known outside Sweden as Stockholm syndrome.[7] It was originally defined by psychiatrist Frank Ochberg to aid the management of hostage situations.[8]
probably more than you wanted to knowMike2633 and road_runner Thank this. -
I got that same/similar notice a few weeks ago. Already talked to my steward and he doesn't know the status of what is going on. Even our business agent is completely in the dark.
If they cut our benefits, there will be no more YRC left and unless we are bought up by someone more competent, all the regionals will collapse with the parent company. Unless the government steps in, this will not a have a favorable outcome. -
I hope someone good buys you out, but dang it's getting close to the edge and corporate buyouts never seem to work out for the working people, best thing you can do is come up with a way to manipulate the corporate critters into doing what's best for you somehow.
My "question" was a link to an article about it, I'll fix that if I can to make it more obvious. I think a lot of truck drivers experience it at some point because the hiring and training process for a new job is often more difficult than it needs to be. It's "the devil you know".road_runner, McUzi and Mike2633 Thank this. -
No company is insane enough to buy them out and take on a billion dollars in debt and thousands of union employees.sdaniel, LoneCowboy, speedyk and 2 others Thank this.

It's not like this company has occasional financial problems, it seems to be consistent with this company. I can't think of anyone that would want that company either. Only company I can think that could afford to take it over and dump endless money into turning it around would be UPSF, but why would they want to?
