Team driving is at least having another human in control while you sleep. With a codriver I feel I can trust, I sleep just fine with the truck in motion
-
When a computer can do this then we should worry:
BTW they do this hauling in winter on these kinds of roads too.Speed_Drums, Kyle G., Sirscrapntruckalot and 1 other person Thank this. -
Here’s my theory, a vehicle with a human driving it and self driving vehicle rolling down the road at the same time will accident likely happen.
Self driving vehicle can only exist if got their own roads. That’s my theory.SteveScott and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
I hated even being out with my mentor for 3 weeks. Not so much me trusting his driving rather than all the little things that pop up with two grown ### men in tiny spaces adding up and making me go crazy and just wanting my own ####ing space
I don't see how people team unless they're dating or married .D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
I did my time being in close proximity to others & not having your own space. Packing 7 grown men into a 2 person tent to stay warm in single digit weather, etc etc. I was ready for my own space quickly on the trainers truck. I will say none of the guys that trained me ever team drove. I’ve never slept in a moving truck. When my time was up, we where done for the day most of the time. If he needed to drive for a little longer, I was in the passenger seat & vice versa.
I don’t know how people do it. A truck is a small space as it is. But I guess that’s why teams make the big bucks -
You do not have to team drive, or mentor or train.
Once you get out here you make your own rules.
Set your own rules, and the company will follow.
They need you more than you need them, and don't forget that. Because every company is trying very hard to keep safe, reliable drivers.
I get away with a lot because I am safe, reliable and on time.
The on time part is big, but I do not accept a load unless I can do it on time - and in my own time frame.
We have more control over our hours than most people think.
Most times. Not always. -
If the pay's good enough, maybe that helps a bit?
-
Can't wait to see the videos of self driving trucks going through construction zones.
Let alone the ones that are 20 or 30 miles long. -
Self driving trucks need good clearly marked roads . The government better kick it into high gear and fix every road if they want self driving trucks .. PS I wonder how many will drive off a dock following the gps or get lost on some lonely mountain road lol
