Not recommended, potentially put metal shavings into the intake and get crazy high egt's from lack of air if the wheel/shaft binds up.
What kind of turbo do you have?

I carry a spare turbo but it's for a 3406b. I'm headed to Portland at 4am from Spokane and would gladly offer it to you but I don't think it would fit the application.
Somebody has to have a turbo in Portland that you can buy and swap out.

I'd call some shops in the morning and ask if they have a used turbo they're willing to sell you. Good luck!

A couple of years ago, I blew turbo in my last trip Christmas eve , all volvo shops around were closed, drove home 100 miles bob with with zero boost my Volvo D13, 2010 vgt. I stooped on the road checked oil level, lost about a galon , i thought no biggie, and keept going . After i got home parked oil was leaking from DPF filter housing. I had to put new turbo dpf filter, sensors and air to air was full of oil. +12,000$/ cad bill.
I would have better take a taxi home.

I use Rottela t6 synthetic only, i read that diesel engines won't runaway on synthetic because does not burn . The oil was passing through both cold/ hot sides ending in DPF the turbo was a month old, reman Holset( because you can't buy new from Volvo as spare part) about same like Cummins is using, they have problems with the bearings, I had 3 turbos on the truck in one year , al same isue popping bearings. The tehcnicians at lolcat shop told me that they have a high failure rate some new Holsets are blowing few feet after installed leaving the shop and recommended to buy older used turbo not reman.
