I have a court date next month with my lawyer. Had to pay the court $3,000 for fighting the ticket and my lawyer $750.
Hopefully the lawyer will do a good job. Fingers crossed ! :)

Fight it. You can probably plead it down to a parking ticket…Hiring an attorney will run you probably about 1k so you’re still saving money by doing this. You have a very good chance of being successful if you hire an attorney.

The $3,000 dollars is just bond amount. You’ll get all or most of that back at the conclusion of the case if you’re successful in getting it dismissed or pleading it down. Honestly if you can plead it down to an unlawful parking ticket in this situation though I would take it

the sign appears to be behind a pole. He could use that to his advantage. Is he supposed to have x-ray vision?

It’s just a money grab unless they had it marked like this street :

Any lawyer that does not work with the court won't work long. They can work FOR you and work WITH the court at the same time. If he knows the judges and the area, he might suspect/know that you aren't getting out of this completely, and wants to be ready to write up a settlement with your financials.

I agree, the lawyer has to make his living dealing with the judges and prosecutors every day it two.

he may be asking about your income to show the judge that this is a overly expensive fine for a situation where no one was injured and no damages was done.

Lots of these signs are out in a place where you only see them once you’re into your turn or after you’ve made it. Once you’re so far into your turn, especially if there’s cars backed up behind you, you have no choice but to complete that turn. I think most of us have been in that situation. It’s so easy when you’re driving in for like a delivery in unfamiliar territory to turn down a street that’s truck restricted.

$10,000? nah, just no way! I can see if you did some kinda damage etc. But a $10,000 fine or ticket for a trucker is a career ender. Making a wrong turn down the wrong street should not end a truck drivers career.
    Fight it! All the way
